What music are you practicing right now?
Here at tonebase, we share knowledge but just about trumpet fundamentals, but also about the inner workings of repertoire… classical, jazz, pop, marching band, and everything in between. What are the songs, pieces, sonatas, riffs, tunes, cadenzas, or solos that you’re working on right now? Is there anything you recently finished or mastered that you’d like to share? What are some challenges in what you’re working on? Would you care to share any video or audio of a certain tricky spot to get some advice from the community? I’m excited to see what you are all practicing 💪🏻

Birdlike by Freddie Hubbard, in concert pitch and a semitone above and below. Just the head so far but will start work on the solo tomorrow

Hi Ethan,
I have been playing trumpet for a long time and still wrestling with what is the approach to a great warm - up .
One hour of covering all the basics ie: Play -alongs Pat Harrison, Chicowitz, Arbans 4ths and 5ths Scales Allen Vizzutti . Most days I spend time with I real pro to help my approach to playing jazz.
Presently my playing is with a brass quintet ,full size big band, British style brass band and I,m lucky to be doing 50 gigs a year.
Yes I,m very thankful for the privilege but am still looking to become a more efficient player.
waiting for an update on my tone base subscription and looking forward to improving my jazz playing.
Back to your original Question. I,m currently listening to Willie Nelson and Wynton Marsalis.
Thanks,
Sid

The pairing of Willie and Wynton is interesting to try and catch some of Wyntons approach (the master) . To keep me grounded I,m into videos by Andrea Guidfreddi (Play with me) doing the Chicowitz with rhythm section. He plays, you play.No choice , you take your rest .
Regards,
Sid

Massenet's Meditation from Thaïs and Hummel 1st movement. Both have been chosen cos they are beautiful pieces, not because I was ready for them, so these are going to keep me busy for a while 😭
