Making a Nice Sound

The trumpet is tough. It just is! There’s no way around it. How do you work on your tone quality? How do you think about making a nice sound? What are you still struggling to achieve with your sound? Share some specific thoughts, exercises, or ideas if you’re so inclined!

I remember in school my band director had the whole band sing warm ups with a tuner, it made us more in tune and I picked it up again recently with a slight change to it and I’ve seen how much can change the fullness of my sound

That's a really smart idea... the voice is our most natural instrument and a great way to internalize pitch. "Tone" is the root word in "intonation" - so the two are most definitely connected!

Do the lotus position, and play slowly the trumpet

Never push, think about the 7 shakras from the botom to the head (sky)

There are all of them similars to a sound box

One other exercice can be to think, play or sing the note little bit upper, it can make you feel how to use the 3 sound box of your head and especialy for make a resonnance with the up of your head

Whistling can help you to positioning your tongue,
