Hey everyone, here's a PDF that I'll refer to in this stream! See you soon :)

Thank you, Ethan. This was extremely helpful. I would guess my warmups are rather rushed, but I had no idea flexibility exercises during a warmup might be a problem, for example.

What about tonguing, should we be careful with that as well? I think you only mentioned "soft/air articulation" in passing during the stream.

Thanks Dee! A low to moderate amount of flexibility is probably OK, and it very much depends on the player. Someone like Chris Gekker would focus his warm-up on soft, legato, low articulation: scales, arpeggios, and simple patterns. This programs the tongue, airstream, and aperture to work together harmoniously! In regards to doing too much tonguing, it is certainly possible. But I wouldn't walk around on eggshells being afraid of overdoing it. Avoid too much loud tonguing or blasting, and be mindful of if the tongue is starting to fatigue. If the clarity of the attack starts suffering after a lot of tonguing practice, consider a short break.
