Daily warm up video lesson
Hi everyone,
I'm JJ, just joined tonebase recently and also a very beginner on trumpet.
I'm wondering if there is already a daily warm up lesson for different level that I can play alone with. I search the course library but I didn't find such a lesson.
I think such a daily warm up lesson will be very helpful.
Best regards,
JJ

Hi JJ, welcome to tonebase! Thanks for your question.
Here are courses that might be useful for warming up at a beginner level.
Kayla Solomon Beginner Course: There is a lot here that you can explore!
- For an early beginner, I recommend the Learning Notes lesson, where Kayla plays through the first 12/13 notes you learn. Treat these like long tones and play them along with her, or for an even longer time. Try to keep the pitch centered, and the sound as smooth, rich, and full as possible.
- Navigating Partials contains an excellent warm-up too, with a simple slur from G to C, and then moving chromatically downward.
- Simple Etude Play-Alongs would be really useful at your level, too! These are actual pieces of music which Kayla demonstrates in detail, and can help you work on fundamentals in a fun way :)
Malcolm McNab James Stamp Course: This is a good goal for you to work up to - Malcolm provides a play-along of the James Stamp routine, one of the most used warm-ups for trumpet. I'd play just the first few exercises with him.
I am in the process of producing a more comprehensive guided warm-up course to be released early next year!

Over time, I’ve collected a lot of trumpet sheet music from various (free) sources. I’ve found two of them to be extremely helpful in my practice. The first is 2-5-1 Long Tones - it comes with an iReal backing track that you can play along to.
The first page is pretty simple but as you progress, it becomes more complex. The caveat with this is that you’ll need to be able to play the range of the trumpet to make really good use of it. You can find it at craigfraedrichmusic.com
The second, is called “20 Minute Routine”. I use this almost every day and have found it very helpful. I’ve attached it here. Mods, if I’m not allowed to attach sheets in the forum, please let me know!

Thought I'd share here - this is a PDF I assembled early in the year I call the Ultimate Trumpet Warm-Up Routine (surely it's not an original title, and one can claim any number of routines to be 'ultimate' but I find it helpful in a way none other so far has been for me personally....)
It contains some of the most useful exercises in each area of playing (buzzing, sound, articulation, flexibility....) and LOTS of variety. You can do one or two exercises from each section every day and maintain a super fresh routine. Let me know what you think! I plan to do a course on this soon :)

I think it's a good material for a good warm-up.
